Please read all of the steps below in order to participate in Dual Enrollment.

Dual Enrollment (DE) is a dual-credit program that allows high school students (11th and 12th and some 10th) the option of pursuing college credit through approved colleges and universities-- either as a full- or part-time college student. Students who successfully complete an approved academic course from the state’s DE course list earn both high school and college credits. Students must apply and be accepted to a participating eligible postsecondary institution. College approved courses taken must count toward high school graduation requirements. The program pays for college tuition, books, and mandatory fees.

How to Apply for Dual Enrollment

Students interested in participating in Rockdale County’s Dual Enrollment program for 2024-2025 should either attend or watch the recording (click here) of the Advanced Academics meeting held in the fall and then read and complete the steps below.

The earlier a student applies, the better. If the steps are not completed by the deadline, the student will not be able to participate in Dual Enrollment in the coming school year. For more information, contact [email protected]

Step 1:  Indicate your interest in Dual Enrollment by joining the Remind (text @e784f3d to the number 81010 or visit https://www.remind.com/join/e784f3d)  and completing the RCPS Dual Enrollment Interest Form (CLICK HERE or visit https://forms.office.com/r/kX3VffG0Ki).

Step 2:  The student will receive an email to their school email account for the Dual Enrollment Canvas page that they must accept.

Step 3:  Discuss college options and admissions requirements with parents and counselors.  Most of our students attend the following institutions, with course offerings at RCA, but you are not limited to these colleges:
•    Ga. Piedmont Technical College https://www.gptc.edu/technical-education/high-school-students/
•    Point University https://point.edu/admissions/dual-enrollment/
•    Clayton State University https://www.clayton.edu/admissions/undergrad/dual-enrollment
•    Georgia Military College https://gmc.edu/admissions/join-dual-enrollment.cms

Step 4:  Apply to your chosen college on the college website before February 13, 2024 (DUAL ENROLLMENT APPLICATION PROCESS ENDS ON FEBRUARY 14, 2024), and take any tests necessary for admittance (SAT, ACT, PSAT, Accuplacer). Supply the college with all required documentation. Requirements will vary depending on your college of choice.  It is the responsibility of the student to submit all documents to the college. The Dual Enrollment Office will submit transcripts to all colleges.

Step 5:  Go to www.gafutures.org and complete the required Dual Enrollment Funding Application. The window to submit funding applications is February 1 - March 29, 2024. Follow the procedures at https://www.gafutures.org/hope-state-aid-programs/scholarships-grants/dual-enrollment/application-procedure-and-deadline/
The student and parent must complete the application before March 29, 2024. If the funding application is not completed, you will not be able to participate in the Dual Enrollment program.

Step 6:  The student and parent must attend the Dual Enrollment Orientation. The date and time will be announced in the Remind.

Important Notes:
-   You must be accepted to the college in the spring to take the DE classes in the fall.
-    If you are attending a college that does not offer classes at RCA then it is your responsibility to apply and register at the college by the stated deadlines.
